retrieving initial fields of type 'DATE'

i have a problem where Krishna already posted a solution: Troubleshooting a SAP Netweaver Gateway Service

For example: i want to select a single line of table MARC where we have several date fields and some of them are initial - so I tried to set the datamodel of the date fields to length 0 and made them "null-able" (with the checkbox).

unfortunately this doesn't work for me - do you have any suggestions?
